COUNSELLING

At Neuro Nurture, we are deeply committed to supporting families on their unique journeys with compassion and understanding. Our mission is to harness the latest insights to provide targeted, empathetic counselling that addresses the specific challenges and joys that come with raising a child with autism. We aim to create a supportive environment that fosters connection, resilience, and hope for families, helping them navigate the complexities of autism with confidence and compassion. By offering tailored strategies and a nurturing space for growth, we empower families to enhance their well-being and cultivate a deeper understanding and acceptance of each other. At Neuro Nurture, we stand with families of children with autism, dedicated to lighting the path toward a fulfilling life together

Person-centered approach

Our Person-Centered Approach to counselling families with members on the spectrum or with developmental delays, Kirsten focus’s on understanding and valuing the uniqueness of each family member. We aim to create a supportive environment that encourages open expression and fosters understanding, acceptance, and growth. We listen actively and offer unconditional positive regard, tailoring our support to meet the specific needs and goals of each family. Kirsten’s goal is to empower families, enhance their resilience, and improve family dynamics, ensuring everyone feels seen and supported. We are dedicated to guiding families towards a more connected and fulfilling life together, celebrating the diversity and potential within each family.

Practical, creative techniques

Kirsten integrates creative techniques to engage clients and deepen exploration. Techniques include art therapy for expression, play therapy for communication, and sand tray therapy for non-verbal processing. Music, movement, and mindfulness techniques are also used to evoke emotions, reduce stress, and promote self-awareness. These approaches provide holistic support, empowering clients to navigate challenges and foster growth.  Techniques employed during sessions can address interpersonal dynamics, improve communication, and strengthen family relationships in the context of autism and developmental delays.

All counselling sessions are home-based in person (Helderberg area & surrounds) or offered remotely.
